German-Pena Arraigned for Murder of Ilias Mavros and Related Charges

SALEM, Mass. – April 16, 2025 – Erick German-Pena, 25, of Lynn, was arraigned today in Superior Court in Salem for the murder of Ilias Mavros of Lynn, who was 48 at the time of his death, the Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announces. In addition to murder, German-Pena was charged with armed burglary and carrying a firearm without a license. German-Pena pled not guilty before the Hon. Kathleen McCarthy-Neyman, who ordered the defendant held without bail.
On the evening of Monday, February 3 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Lynn Police responded to a residence on Stanwood Street in Lynn to conduct a well-being check of the resident at the request of family members. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mavros with apparent signs of trauma. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to Tucker's office, Lynn Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner investigated.
Prosecutor Kate MacDougall is handling the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. The defendant is being represented by attorney Michael Phelan.
German-Pena is due to return to Superior Court on May 27.
All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
